2008 year in review

This isn’t a political year in review… or a New Hampshire year in review. It’s *my* year in review.

Overall, I’d have to say this year was a mixed bag. It had some pretty high highs, and some pretty low lows. Moderation was never my forte. :-\

Accomplishments of note over the past year (that I’m willing to post on the ‘net):
– got legally divorced, after years of procrastinating
– bought a gun, after years of procrastinating
– achieved the highest income level of my life to date
– travelled to a foreign country alone for the first time (granted, it was only Canada, but hey, baby steps!)
– managed a project team for the first time (and successfully, I might add)
– saved more money in a year than I ever have in my life
– became an anarchist (far more jarring than you might expect)
– stepped away from various organizations, hobbies and acquaintances that were, to quote Jayne Cobb, “damaging my calm”
– turned 40; since the average lifespan of an American female is 79.1 years, I am now officially over the hill. Wahoo?
– watched the beginning of the economic collapse of my native country (now *that* was special)

Accomplishments of shame:
– well, why the hell would I post *those*? I know what they are; you’re left to wonder.

Resolutions for the new year? Yeah, I’ve got them, or one, anyway. Goals? Got those too. Expectations? I’m trying hard to let go of those. Incoming President Obama has promised me “change”, so I’m not going to waste too much mental energy projecting expectations on the future.

One thing’s for sure: the year ahead will be “interesting”, in a Chinese curse sorta way. Ye be warned.
